August 19, 2009

1-2 ft. anlke to knee high. Minor windswell in the water this morning. Possibly surfable for the longboards but overall soft and weak.
August 18, 2009

1-3 ft again…Hurricane Bill’s swell is trying to move into the area over the weekend and maybe even starting at the end of this week. The high tides will improve conditions, but it still might be something for your longboard, at least until the end of the week.
Afternoon update: 1:21 pm: I managed to make it out this morning for a bit and caught a few on my longboard. Conditions should improve slightly with the high tide at 7:11 pm, but the real fun will come during the weekend. – Ashleigh
August 17, 2009
1-3 ft ankle to waist high and poor to fair conditions. SE background swell coming in today and some standout spots will see 3 ft with the favorable tides.
August 13, 2009

Completely flat out there folks. Nothing above ankle high really and similar conditons plague the rest of the lowcountry. However, so you are aware, there is a tropical depression that is building itself down around the Caribbean. It is still Southeast of Puerto Rico and could cause some swell up the eastern seaboard but meterologists are saying its pretty disorganized. Regardless, this is a good reminder to always take special care as the core of hurricane season comes our way in late summer, early fall. Keep an eye on the weather and be safe!
August 12, 2009

Small scale SW wind chop today. Looks really weak and basically does not look surfable.
August 11, 2009

Just choppy slop today from the SW, ankle to knee high at best. Looks very inconsistent and like nothing much is going on. Might improve slightly with the high tide later this morning at about 11:55.
August 10, 2009

Mostly knee high ESE background swell. Clean conditions. The incoming tide should offer more thigh high waves. You will need your small wave equipment today.
August 9, 2009

SE trade swell on tap today. Surf is coming in at 1-2 ft and there is still room for improvement with the incoming tide, where we could see some bigger peaks. Conditions are mostly clean with a slight bump.
August 8, 2009

Morning Report: Looking pretty small out there this morning. Forecasts say 1-2 feet, knee to thigh and maybe the very occasional taller waves around the high tide at 9:56 am. Looks similar throughout the lowcountry.
Afternoon Report: 1-2 ft knee to thigh coming in with the outgoing tide. Conditions are weak and semi-bumpy.
August 7, 2009

Morning Report: 1-2 ft knee to thigh high and fair conditions. Glassy windswell mix. The incoming tide this morning should give it some occassional plus peaks.
Afternoon Report: Continuing to come in at 1-2 ft. Outgoing tide also causing the surf to lose some push.
August 6, 2009

1-2 ft knee to thigh high and poor conditions. Minimal windswell mix with semi-bumpy conditions.
August 5, 2009

Morning Report: 1-2 ft ankle to knee high with poor conditions. Minimal SSW windswell mix on tap today. Some occassional longboard waves in the water.
August 4, 2009

August 3, 2009

Morning Report: 1-2 ft. ankle to knee high with occassional waist high sets. SSW windswell and ESE trade windswell mix today but stay on the small side.
August 2, 2009

A.M.: Happy Sunday all! Looking like disorganized thigh to waist high with a slight improvement as the tide comes in later. Looks like this week holds a bit of a groundswell though. It should start getting better up towards Wrightsville/Myrtle, etc before it gets better down towards Charleston/Folly as the swell is sneaking in from up there. Stay tuned!
P.M.: SSW windswell/SE swell mix continues this afternoon with the incoming tide offering slightly better conditions than earlier. Surf is running in about the 1-2 ft range with some 3 ft sets.
August 1, 2009

A.M.: 1-2 ft, ankle to knee high and poor conditions. Clean but small scale surf that could improve with the tide push later on, but looks drained right now.
P.M.: Choppy windswell on tap this afternoon. Surfable but small and weak. We could see a little help with the tide push.
July 31, 2009

1-2 foot waves this morning, thigh high at best. Mostly chop from a pretty steady SSW wind. Rumor on the street is that the weekend will improve though. Maybe 2-3 feet over the weekend with a more organized swell.
July 30, 2009

Inconsistent with occasional 2ft and poor conditions. Minor SSW windswell. Not looking very rideable today.
July 29, 2008

Looking like a storm is brewing here in IOP. The whole area, accordnig to forecasting isn’t looking that good today in general. Ankle high poor conditions.
July 28, 2009

1-2 ft. ankle to knee high and poor. Drained out SW windswell. Tide may give a little pushlater today.
July 27, 2009

The swell of the last few days definitely looks like it is gone for now. 1-2 feet tops…deteriorating conditions as the next few days go by. Hope you had a great weekend with the conditions while they were here!
July 26, 2009

1-2 ft knee to thigh high and poor conditions. Small scale SE swell leftovers.
July 25, 2009

2-3 ft. SE swell on tap for today and continues on a slow fading trend. Winds are currently SW and conditions are semi-bumpy.
July 24, 2009

Definitely surfable this morning. The remainder of what was yesterday is still around but is reported to dissipate through the afternoon. and through the weekend gradually. Make it out if you can!
July 23, 2009

3-4 ft SE windswell, best with the tide push. Size will be a notch smaller around the early afternoon low tide.
July 22, 2009

2-3 ft waves today. ESE/SE swell in the water this morning. SE breeze is adding some texture and bump. Looks like a bit more surf in the water than days past.
July 21, 2009

1-2 ft knee to ankle. More of the same tiny windswell dribble in the water for the area. WInds are calm but the ocean still has some bump to it.
July 20, 2009

1-2 ft ankle to knee high with clean conditions. Minor S/SE windswell on tap for today.
July 19, 2009

Conditions to improve as the day goes on, but at this point 1-2 ft, and nothing all that powerful.
July 18, 2009

1-2 ft knee to thigh. Small windswell on tap. Bumpy conditions with a WSW wind. Small but at least rideable.
July 17, 2009

Minor traces but overall flat.
July 16, 2009

Very minor traces but ankle high at best. Conditions looks slightly better tomorrow, but still not impressive. Stay tuned to see if tomorrow improves.
July 15, 2009

Flat today. Minor trace windwell dribble in the water today. Not really looking surfable.
July 14, 2009

Minor traces today but the surf is basically flat.
July 13, 2009

Not much to speak of this Monday morning. From our break, it looks unsurfable….and from the forecast, the rest of the lowcountry looks flat as well.
July 12, 2009

Flat and poor conditions today. Minimal ENE windchop on tap today. Conditions look unsurfable.
July 11, 2009

1-2 ft knee high and poor conditions. Onshore E wind. Small scale leftovers in the water. No real size to surf and weak.
July 10, 2009

TGIF, lowcountry! Its knee to thigh high out there this morning from some ENE/NE windswell. This is the same story for all of the lowcountry. Good luck catching much of anything.
July 9, 2009

Small ankle to knee plus leftover windswell dribble. Clean but tiny and weak. Perhaps just enough for the small wave equipment.
July 8, 2009

Good morning, Lowcountry! Not bad out there this morning, but conditions should improve in the afternoon. 1-2 ft, maybe waist high right now. As the week progresses, the conditions will continually get better, but stay tuned here for details.
July 7, 2009

Small SSW windswell leftovers in the water. Clean conditions. Looks surfable but a bit on the weak side.
July 6, 2009

Welcome back to the work week! As forecasted, today is looking a bit more promising than this weekend had looked. Knee high to thigh high in some sets. A small swell is currently incoming so get out there if you can.
July 5, 2009

Hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July. Doesn’t look to be a good day for surfing. Forecast is minimal chop traces, but basically flat today.
July 4, 2009

Happy birthday America! We here at SurfLC were hoping since most folks have this weekend off, the surf conditions would be ripe for the picking. Unfortunately, we are forecasting very few surfable waves. Conditions should improve slightly over the weekend, with Monday looking better. There is a faint SSW windswell still lingering around but nothing very promising. Regardless, have a fun and safe Independence Day from SurfLC!
July 3, 2009

TGIF!! Clean conditions. Looks like with a longboard you can get into some knee high with possible waist high later this morning.
July 2, 2009

Good morning! It looks like a slight SSW windswell is out there, but conditions are still inconsistent. If you have a longboard, it might be worth a shot with the knee-high conditions.
July 1, 2009

Inconsistent and poor conditions today. A tiny SSW swell in the water this morning. Not really looking surfable.
June 30, 2009
Per usual, there isn’t a lot out there to catch, but there may be something worth trying out with the longboard. Conditions look to improve in the next few days though. This afternoon looks a little better than this morning, even. Ankle to knee chop for most of the day though. Stay tuned to see how it turns out!
June 29, 2009

Good Monday all! Not much is happening out there, but something worth trying on a longboard. Same story from Myrtle to Folly. Mostly windchop.
June 28, 2009

1-2 ft ankle to knee high. Small glassy little lines this morning. Forecast says we should see some peaks with the incoming tide later this morning.
June 26, 2009

As you can see, there is a bit more activity out there this morning, but still most of it is breaking right on shore. The conditions appear to be improving into the afternoon today and staying pretty much the same through the weekend. Its about ankle to knee with a distinct S/SE windswell.
June 25, 2009
Minor traces in the water with light onshore breezes. Not much surf today.
June 24, 2009
Poor conditions with minimal surf. Light onshore breezes adding some textures.
June 23, 2009
Hello all. Nothing is doing again in the lowcountry. They say things will pick up on Thursday and Friday…a minor background swell should come into the area at that time. It’s flat as can be today, but still a sunny day. if you have time, enjoy the weather!
June 22, 2009

Poor conditions today. Flat to ankle high. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it looks like the conditions are going to continue for the next couple of days.
June 21, 2009

1-2 ft. Poor conditions with glassy little leftovers at mostly ankle to knee high.
June 20, 2009

Inconsistent conditions today.Tiny surf with minor background swell on tap. Knee high range at best. SW wind chop. I know its not the best conditions today but today is International Surfing Day so paddle out, help clean a beach and celebrate. And if you do catch a few that makes the day that much better.
June 19, 2009

While SurfLC did see a lone surfer out this morning, as you can tell from the photos above, there isn’t much surfable. It looks like just windchop through today and tomorrow.
June 18, 2009

This morning proves to be a little more promising for surfing as you can see by the pictures, and today would be the day to get out there. Conditions look like they will deterioritate over the next 2 days. Get out there and catch a few!
June 17, 2009

Again this morning, it doesn’t look like much is doing. Word is, there are some sets to catch up around Cape Hatteras as there is a little movement coming in to the coast from the N/NE. It should reach the middle of South Carolina by tomorrow for us a little further down the coast. Maybe thigh-high waves tomorrow. Today looks a little promising up towards Myrtle Beach/the farther north you go, so if you are in those parts, give it a shot.
June 16, 2009

Another quiet day. Minor background windswell/chop traces are evident, but again, no power to surf. Thursday looks to be slightly better though. Move along now. There is nothing to see here.
June 15, 2009

Good morning lowcountry! Looks like another flat day out there. Myrtle looks a little more fun and the afternoon tide might bring a little bit in. Wednesday is looking slightly more promising, but until then, there won’t be much to speak of.
June 13, 2009

As forecasted earlier, Saturday looks very much to be a bust, at least at this time. Lake Charleston. We think the only one catching anything today was the heron we saw divebombing for its breakfast. Unfortnately, it looks like it’s going downhill from here as well through the weekend.
June 12, 2009

Alas the pictures are back. Looks like this morning, or when the tide is coming later, will be the best time to get out there today. The weekend isn’t going to get any better, though some new action is forming out in the Atlantic that might prove to be something late Sunday or Monday. 1-2 footers and a few scattered showers this weekend though.
June, 11, 2009
Apologies for not having a report up yesterday. there were some technical difficulties at SurfLC that we thought we could rectify, but it didn’t happen, sadly. At any rate, said glitch is still in effect, so if you can please bear with us while we only have written reports for a day or two, we’d really appreciate it. Just pretend there are pictures.
As for today: As mentioned in posts before, the likely of catching something good out there in the next day or two is pretty slim. Friday afternoon to evening looks to be slightly better than today.
June 9, 2009

The surf is still looking pretty respectable this morning down at IOP but as mentioned yesterday, deteriorating conditions are expected through the rest of the week. It appears even less is happening up towards Myrtle Beach as what little swell there is, is coming from the south, southeast. Looks like it should pick up towards the end of the week though. Let’s hope the weekend improves!
June 8, 2009

2-3 footers this morning. Not shabby. Get while the getting’s good because the rest of the week is forecasting to be pretty flat.
June 7, 2009

2-3 ft SSE Windswell in the water this morning. Conditions are fairly clean with only a slight cross bump.
June 5, 2009

Looking like a beautiful day and definitely more productive out there than the previous days. Waves are 1-2 feet right now, but conditions should improve through this evening and stay pretty steady through the weekend. There are similar reports for the whole lowcountry. Beyond this though, there appears to be another patch of pretty calm water , so get out there this weekend if you can and have some fun!
June 4, 2009

Looks like things are picking up slightly, as predicted. Looks like 1-2 footers today and tomorrow…with an increase to 2-3 footers on Saturday. The windswell moving in from the S-SE is going to improve your chances.
June 3, 2009

Hello Lake Charleston. 1-2 foot waves, tops. Our resources say Myrtle is looking about the same. The best bet, as far as we can tell this week, will be Thursday evening or Friday morning as some weather may be making it’s way to the area. But alas, here are your photos! Looks like a beautiful day to catch a few rays.
June 2, 2009

Looks like a pretty day right off of 41st in Isle of Palms, but not a good morning for surf. Definitely flat. Forecasts look pretty flat all day. Best Swell Direction: E and SE hurricane and NE wind/groundswell can have a little power.
